Mary Koenig
Mary Koenig is founder and principal of Harvard Square Financial Planning. She has worked with the Harvard University community since 1985, when she joined the benefits group. In 1998, she co-founded The Financial Planning Group at Harvard Square (at the request of the university) to provide personal financial planning services to the faculty and administrators of Harvard.
Mary’s strength lies in her ability to identify issues, analyze and interpret data, and then develop effective alternatives for reaching financial goals. She is a master planner.
As important, Mary never loses focus of the people with whom she works. She understands that her suggestions and recommendations must suit the personality and life style of each client. As she develops personal relationships with her clients, she becomes even more effective.
Over the last 27 years, Mary has helped hundreds of individuals and families determine what price house they can afford, which employee benefit is the best fit, what they need to save for college, and when they can retire. Moreover, she knows what she’s talking about. She’s experienced life herself. As a parent of college junior and a recent grad, she has been through home purchases and renovations, the college application process and subsequent tuition bills, long-term care issues, family deaths, and retirement planning for her husband and herself, as well as their parents.
